Your journey begins with a hassle-free morning pickup in Chania, where you’ll trade the coastal buzz for the winding roads of the White Mountains. As you ascend to the village of Imbros, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Askyfou Plateau before reaching the trailhead.

Once inside the gorge, you’ll descend into a 11-km natural cathedral of limestone. The experience is defined by dramatic geology; you’ll walk through the famous "Gates," where the towering walls close in to just 2 meters wide, making you feel the true scale of the Cretan wild. Along the way, keep an eye out for the rare Kri-Kri goats perched on impossible ledges and the scent of wild thyme and sage that fills the mountain air.

The path follows an ancient mule trail used for centuries, offering a profound sense of history as you walk the same route used by Allied soldiers during WWII. After roughly 2-3 hours of hiking, the gorge opens up to the shimmering Libyan Sea. Your experience concludes in the village of Komitades, where you can relax at a traditional taverna and enjoy a well-earned Sfakian pie with honey before your comfortable transfer whisks you back to Chania.
