We offer three tour options based on your preference:

First, the non-hiking option offers a relaxing way to experience Mount Merapi’s lava from a safe location surrounded by peaceful natural scenery. Your guide will first take you to the bunker and observation tower, once used during volcanic eruptions and to monitor Merapi’s activity. The journey then continues to the main viewpoint, where you can admire the stunning panorama of Mount Merapi and its glowing lava as part of a remarkable natural phenomenon, while enjoying local snacks and warm drinks

Second, the hiking option to Turgo Hill offers a closer and more adventurous way to experience Mount Merapi. The trail leads to a scenic viewpoint at the summit, where the glowing lava is more visible and the city lights of Yogyakarta sparkle below. The hike from the parking area takes about 40–50 minutes, passing approximately 1,740 steps through cool, refreshing forest scenery. If conditions allow, you may also hear the gentle rumble of Merapi in the distance. Throughout the hike, your guide will accompany you, share interesting stories, and help ensure a safe and enjoyable journey.
Third, the Sunrise Hike to Bukit Turgo begins at 3:00 AM, following the same route as the night hike while giving you the opportunity to see the glowing lava before sunrise. From the summit, you can watch the sunrise over the horizon and enjoy panoramic views of Yogyakarta while breathing in the fresh morning air and admiring the majestic Mount Merapi. If conditions allow, you may also hear the gentle rumble of the volcano, while wild birds often add to the peaceful natural atmosphere.

Sunrise Hiking: Early morning hike on the same route as hiking option for sunrise views.
