Discover Sicilian craftsmanship by decorating lava stone ceramics and shaping clay on a potter's wheel or by hand in the historic Maninterra workshop.
Enjoy a unique experience in the charming historic center of Catania, inside the famous Laboratorio Maninterra, one of the oldest and most renowned artisan workshops in the city. Here, tradition and creativity come together in an authentic atmosphere, where you can get your hands dirty—literally!

You will be welcomed by Alice, a young ceramist who grew up surrounded by clay and glazes, daughter of Laura La Greca, artist and founder of the workshop. With passion and patience, Alice will guide you through the basic techniques of ceramics, offering you a fascinating immersion in the world of local craftsmanship.

What you will do:

You will immediately put on a potter's smock and start your creative experience.
Clay modeling: you can work freehand or try your hand at the potter's wheel to create your own small piece (note: the piece cannot be taken away as it needs to be fired in a kiln, which takes several days).
Lava stone decoration: you will be given a real lava stone tile, ready to be decorated with your colors and patterns, under the careful guidance of Alice.
In the exceptional event that the lava stone tile is unavailable, it will be replaced with a terracotta tile.
After about 24 hours, you can pick up your finished piece: a unique Sicilian ceramic tile made by you—a tangible and original souvenir of your trip to Sicily.

At the end of the experience, if you wish, you can visit the Maninterra workshop to discover the complete ceramic production process and admire the exclusive works of Laura La Greca, living testimonies of Sicilian beauty and artistic tradition.
