Piedimonte Etneo: Etna Wine Train Tour & Sicily Wine tasting

The Etna Wine Train is a unique way to experience a unique place in the world. This fascinating tour will take you to discover the volcanic territory of Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, transporting you to a 'volcano' of unique smells, tastes and beauty aboard a slow and relaxing means of transport: the Circumetnea Railway train!
We will take you by Wine Bus along the itineraries of the Etna Wine Route to discover the most beautiful wineries in the area and taste their wines.
A dedicated guide will show you the places and wineries along the route in Italian and English.

The Etna Wine Train Tour is available every Thursday and Saturday.

Tour itinerary
9:00 a.m. Meeting at Piedimonte Etneo Circumetnea station with a dedicated guide.
9:18 Departure by train from the station.
10:04 Arrival in Randazzo.
10:30 Guided tour of an historic village and transfer with the Wine Bus to a winery.
12:00 Guided tour, wine and food tasting at the first winery. Tasting of 2 Etna DOC wines and a plate with typical products such as cured meats, cheeses, olives, extra virgin olive oil and bruschetta.
14:00 (2 p.m.) Guided tour, wine and food tasting at the second winery. Transfer by Wine Bus and guided tour and tasting of 2 Etna DOC wines and typical products at the second winery.
16:00 (4 p.m.) Return to departure station with the Wine Bus transfer.

The 2 wineries included in the itinerary are located between Linguaglossa, Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo and will vary from time to time.

Please note that Piedimonte Etneo is about 40 km away from Catania and about 22 km from Taormina. On request, it is also possible to begin the tour from the stations of the Ferrovia Circumetnea in Riposto or Giarre, the latter being more easily reached by regular regional trains. It is not possible to board the train from Catania Borgo station, because it runs along a totally different route!
The tour guide will board the train only in Piedimonte Etneo.
