Puerto Jiménez: La Leona Overnight with a Stop at Corcovado

Start your adventure from our office in Puerto Jiménez at 6:00 a.m., where you'll leave in a 4x4 vehicle towards the La Leona sector. During the journey, your guide will look for as much wildlife as possible, giving you a safari-like experience in the middle of nature. Halfway through, you'll visit the beautiful Mata Palo waterfall, a place surrounded by forest and tranquility, perfect for relaxing, cooling off, and even swimming if you wish.

After this stop, you'll continue to Carate, passing through Rancho Piro, where you'll enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch around 11:00 a.m. Then, at noon, you'll continue to Carate, the point from which you'll start your hike to La Leona Ecolodge, located on the edge of Corcovado National Park. You'll arrive around 1:30 p.m., with time to unwind, stroll along the stunning beaches, and spot red lapas, toucans, and other animals that abound in the area.

At 5:45 p.m., you'll enjoy a night tour with your guide, followed by a delicious dinner at 8:00 p.m.
The next day, you'll start early with a bird tour from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., then get ready to head into Corcovado National Park. The tour inside the park runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., exploring one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. Then you'll head back to La Leona Lodge for lunch and, at 1:00 p.m., you'll make your way back to Carate, where your transport will be waiting to take you back to Puerto Jiménez. You'll arrive around 3:30 p.m.

Throughout the experience, you'll come across an incredible variety of wildlife such as sloths, coatis, wild pigs, iguanas, monkeys, limpets, toucans, a huge diversity of birds, and, hopefully, tapirs that usually come out to the beach at night. In season, you can also see turtles nesting.
