Enjoy a private 7-8 hour excursion from Kathmandu, Patan, or Bhaktapur to Nagarkot and Changu Narayan, where you may take in the expansive vistas of the Himalayas and the fresh air of the mountains.
After dawn, begin your hike to Changu Narayan, the oldest Hindu temple in the Kathmandu Valley and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, after stopping for breakfast, tea, or coffee at the hotel in Nagarkot. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is renowned for its elaborate architecture, sculptures, and fine stone carvings. Before heading back to Kathmandu, Patan, or Bhaktapur, you'll have plenty of time to tour the temple complex and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
The trip passes over a rough alpine terrain that is dotted with woods and quaint hamlets. Throughout the hike, your personal guide will follow you and give you fascinating details about the locations you will be seeing. Depending on your pace and the stops you make along the way, the 12-kilometer climb from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan takes about four to five hours to finish. The climb provides breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys as well as the Himalayan range if the weather is clear.
Please be aware that mountain views from Nagarkot are only possible in clear, cloud-free weather. Remember to pack your camera so you may record the breathtaking Himalayan and rural vistas while hiking.
