4-Day Ausangate Trek: 7 Lakes, Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley

Rainbow Mountain and the 7 lagoons of Ausangate Trek 4 Days is an unforgettable adventure that will take you through landscapes and snowy mountains surrounded by herds of alpacas and colorful lagoons.
DAY 1: Cusco – Pacchanta – Ausangate 7 Lakes – Azulcocha Camp
We’ll pick you up early from your hotel in Cusco (around 5:00 am) and drive through beautiful Andean landscapes for about 3 hours until we reach Pacchanta. After a warm breakfast, we’ll begin a gentle hike to explore the stunning Ausangate 7 Lakes, surrounded by glaciers, mountains, and herds of alpacas. After enjoying the views and taking photos, we’ll continue to Azulcocha, where we’ll have lunch and spend the night camping near the lake.

DAY 2: Azulcocha – Upis Hot Springs Camp
After breakfast, we’ll continue with a relaxed hike through quiet valleys with incredible views of Ausangate Mountain and its glaciers. Along the way, you’ll see plenty of alpacas grazing freely. After around 4 hours, we’ll arrive at Upis camp, where lunch will be ready. In the afternoon, you’ll have time to enjoy the natural hot springs — the perfect way to relax in the middle of the Andes. Overnight at camp.

DAY 3: Upis – Arapa Pass – Pucacocha – Anantapata Camp
Today is the most challenging and rewarding day. We’ll hike up to Arapa Pass (4,800 m), where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Then we’ll descend to visit the beautiful Yanacocha and Pucacocha lakes, known for their unique colors. After lunch, we’ll continue over another pass before reaching our campsite at Anantapata, a peaceful spot surrounded by incredible scenery.

DAY 4: Anantapata – Rainbow Mountain – Red Valley – Cusco
We’ll start very early to reach Rainbow Mountain before the crowds. After hiking up to Warmisaya Pass, we’ll continue to Vinicunca, where you’ll have time to enjoy the famous colorful mountain and take photos. Then we’ll visit the impressive Red Valley, a hidden gem with unique landscapes. After the hike, we’ll return by vehicle to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon.
