Departing conveniently from Korça — one of Albania’s most charming and culturally rich cities — the experience begins with a comfortable pickup from the Korça Bus Terminal, included in the tour. From there, you’ll be transported through scenic rural landscapes toward the foothills of the Valamara mountains, where your hiking adventure begins. This connection between Korça's vibrant urban life and the peaceful mountain wilderness creates a beautiful contrast that enhances the overall experience.

The hike begins at the foot of the Valamara range and gradually ascends through lush alpine meadows, dense beech and pine forests, and rolling hills covered in wild herbs and flowers. Along the way, your guide will share insights about the local flora, fauna, and cultural heritage of the area, enriching your experience with stories and knowledge passed down through generations.

As you climb higher, the landscape opens up to reveal panoramic ridgelines with sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and mountain peaks. After approximately 7 km of steady hiking — around 3 hours, depending on the pace of the group — you’ll arrive at the highlight of the journey: the Valamara Glacial Lakes.

Tucked away in a remote alpine basin and fed by snowmelt and underground springs, these crystal-clear lakes shimmer with shades of blue and green, reflecting the towering cliffs and sky above. It’s a place of complete serenity, where the only sounds are the wind, the occasional birdcall, and the crunch of your boots on the rocky shore.

Once at the lakes, you'll have plenty of time to rest, explore, take stunning photographs, and soak in the atmosphere of this high-altitude paradise. Feel free to enjoy a packed snack, dip your feet in the cold glacial water, or simply sit quietly and take in the natural beauty around you. After a well-deserved break, the group will begin the return hike, descending along the same path back to the starting point — tired but deeply fulfilled.
