Day 1: Monkey Day
Welcome to our office, then we’ll head to our lodge to start the adventure. Enjoy a 35-minute boat ride to the lodge located near the Madre de Dios River, where you’ll be introduced to the lodge and your private room with a bathroom.
Enjoy a typical lunch (vegetarian or vegan options available).
Activities:
Visit the monkey house to meet four species of monkeys and feed them fruits and vegetables.
Night walk with flashlights to explore our primary and secondary forest, searching for nocturnal insects and animals such as sloths, tarantulas, spiders, giant toads, scorpions, and possibly snakes, which are active at night.
Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 2: Journey to Lake Sandoval
American Breakfast
We’ll head straight to the Lake Sandoval port for a 30-minute boat ride, followed by a 3-kilometer (1-hour) hike on a well-maintained path leading to the lake, where you can encounter:
Up to 4 species of monkeys
Snakes
Tarantulas
Tropical birds
Macaws
Mammals
At the end of the hike, a canoe awaits to take you to our cabins while exploring Lake Sandoval. We’ll navigate the right bank to look for wildlife, where you might see tropical birds along the shore, herons, caimans, and the impressive 2-meter-long river wolf, a symbol of Madre de Dios.
Upon arriving at our lodge, enjoy lunch and settle into your rooms. After a short rest, we’ll take a boat to watch the sunset in the Amazon rainforest, accompanied by monkeys and bats. Later, we’ll head out again to search for caimans. Finally, we’ll return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Day 3: Dawn in Tambopata
Awake to the breathtaking Amazonian sunrise as you prepare for your departure to Puerto Maldonado. Enjoy stunning views of the Madre de Dios River while savoring a final nutritious breakfast made with organic ingredients from our pantry.
Your guide and staff will bid you farewell, thanking you for visiting this beautiful part of the Amazon. You'll travel back to Puerto Maldonado by motorized canoe. Depending on your departure time, you can relax and wait for your bus home or to your next destination.
