Arequipa | Ascent to Chachani Volcano 2 days / 1 night

This volcano is famous in Arequipa and in Peru for being considered one of the protectors of the city of Arequipa and because “Sillar” is extracted from it.
Day 1
We will pick you up at 7:30 a.m. at your hotel in Arequipa in a 4x4 to start a very exciting excursion.
At 10:00 a.m. we will arrive at Pampa Cañahuas, located at the back of the Chachani volcano. At this point we will get ready while the guide gives us some basic recommendations.

We will begin the ascent on foot for two hours through gradual ascents of low intensity until we reach the base camp located at 5200 meters above sea level. Here we will set up our tents and then have a lunch of soup and pasta or canned food.

At nightfall, we will have a tea and go to sleep.

Day 2
The second day will start at 2:00 am. After getting ready again for the adventure and verifying that everything is ready to continue, we will have a delicious breakfast to warm up. Then comes the highlight: the climb to the summit of the Chachani volcano.

If the weather is good, we will have reached the summit of Chachani at around 5:00 a.m. after an intense hike. Once there, you will have free time to regain strength and contemplate the fabulous view of the surrounding volcanoes: the Coropuna, the snow-capped peaks of Ampato, Hualca Hualca, the active Sabancaya, Misti and Ubinas.

After this stop, we will descend towards base camp. As we descend we will make several stops along the way to rest. Once we reach the starting point, the 4x4 will be waiting for us to take us back to Arequipa.
