Explore the Colca Canyon on a 2-day excursion. Contemplate wonderful Andean landscapes and wild animals such as llamas and alpacas, and the giant Andean condors.
DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY 01:
07:30am to 08:00am - Pick up from hotels in downtown Arequipa.
08:00am - We start our trip to one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world. Our point of operations will be the town of Chivay, which we will reach in approximately 04 hours, counting all the tourist stops. As first point we will pass by Pampa Cañahuas, where we can appreciate the vicuñas that live in this area, then very close we will visit Patahuasi to drink the traditional Mate de coca, a traditional drink essential for altitude sickness (soroche). Then we will make a short stop also in the Bofedales de Toccra where we will observe a large number of Alpacas grazing freely in the area. A mandatory stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point of the road that reaches 4800 meters above sea level, from where we will appreciate much of the western mountain range, from this point and only 40 minutes to reach the town of Chivay.
12:30pm - We will arrive to Chivay to enjoy a delicious lunch (to be paid by the client). After lunch we will settle into our respective hotels. During the afternoon we will enjoy a relaxing bath in the hot springs (optional entry at the client's expense) whose thermal medicinal waters range from 35º C to 38º C temperature in the pools.
For dinner (payment on behalf of the client) we will enjoy a folkloric show with typical dances of the area.
Overnight in Chivay.
DAY 02:
Breakfast. After breakfast we will move to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor, which is located 01 hour away, is the observation point of the Colca Canyon and the spectacular flight of the Condor. At this point we will be an average of 45 minutes to observe the beauty of the Colca Canyon.
On the way back we will stop at the viewpoints of the area from where we will observe the impressive Andenería of the Valley and in the town of Maca, where we will see its church and optional tasting of drinks in the area as the Colca Sour, made from local products.
12:00pm - Lunch in Chivay (to be paid for by the client).
01:00pm - We will return to the city of Arequipa. If the first day of our tour we did not know any point to go to Chivay, on the return we can make a stop to meet all the tourist stops, depending on the weather and the group.
05:00pm - We will arrive to the city of Arequipa, and we will leave you near the main square.
