The history of this mansion dates back to the times of Francisco Pizarro, when the Extremaduran conqueror distributed the plots of the newly founded Lima among his men. Among them was Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez, who when he was only 16 years old went to the Indies and ended up becoming one of the conquerors of Peru. The Aliaga lineage has lived in this house since its construction in 1535. Did you know that it is the same age as the city of Lima?

Casa Aliaga has also witnessed important moments in the history of Peru, serving as a refuge during the Republic for President Miguel Iglesias, Rear Admiral Aurelio García and generals Manuel Velarde and Antonio Bentin.

We will tour the luxurious rooms of the Casa de Aliaga while we learn the history of this family that has lived there for 17 generations. We will visit the tiled living room and the bedrooms decorated with Louis XVI style furniture, French rugs and Japanese vases. From the large windows of the luxurious dining room we can see the patio and its 19th century English fountain.

Another point that you should not miss is the chapel, whose walls were covered with silver plates that were stolen in a looting during the War of Independence.
