3-day excursion to the Amazon rainforest + accommodation

Embark on a 3-day adventure in the Amazon rainforest. Explore the Tambopata National Reserve, Sandoval Lake, and Monkey Island. Look for wild animals such as caimans, capybaras, and giant river otters.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado to the lodge
You'll be picked up at the airport or bus station and taken to the port. Take a one-hour boat ride to the lodge. You'll be welcomed with a refreshing local fruit juice and relax in your room. In the afternoon, visit Monkey Island, on the other side of the Madre de Dios River.

Learn about the different species of monkeys and have the chance to feed them. At night, look for a caiman with your flashlight. They are often found on the banks of the Madre de Dios River. With luck, you'll see the capybara, which is the largest rodent in the world.

Day 2: Sandoval Lake
After an early breakfast, take a short hike (three kilometers) to Sandoval Lake, which is home to piranhas, one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve. Take a rowboat with your guide to appreciate the numerous species of birds and monkeys, such as the hoatzin, cormorant, jacanas, heron, eagle, howler monkey, squirrel monkey, black capuchin, tamarins and sloths.

If you are lucky, you will encounter a family of giant river otters, each almost two meters long, which are in danger of extinction. You may even see the largest caiman ever recorded, more than four meters long. Enjoy a typical lunch at the lodge.

In the evening, take a night walk to appreciate the diversity of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals here.

Day 3: Return to Puerto Maldonado
Wake up early for a pre-breakfast activity: a canopy walk. See the rainforest from a different perspective from 30 meters up with panoramic views of the Madre de Dios River. From the platforms you can observe different species of birds, including toucans and macaws.

Return along the river to Puerto Maldonado. Here you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima or Cusco or taken to the bus terminal.
