Day 01: Arrival / Jungle Hike The journey begins when you arrive in Puerto Maldonado to board an outboard boat down the Madre de Dios River to the Ecolucerna Lodge (approximately 1 ½ hours downriver). Upon arrival you will enjoy a tasty lunch made with organic ingredients and indigenous flavors. After lunch you will take a walk along the nature trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary rainforest, its components, uses, man-made transformations and its relevance to the world. This walk will end at night, where you will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of the nocturnal flora and fauna of the Amazon. Back at the lodge, you will enjoy a refreshing traditional dinner. Day 02: Sandoval Lake and Night Caiman Safari Today you will live a day full of emotions, after having a nutritious breakfast, you will prepare for a hike through the Tambopata National Reserve, which will take you to Sandoval Lake. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is known as the biodiversity capital of Peru. You will learn about the conservation work of the Reserve and the formation of the lake, traveling by canoe through this body of water, home to the endangered giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, and one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, the Paiche. ". At night you will take an interesting night excursion, you will sail along the Madre de Dios River, to learn about its ecosystem, the Amazonian ravines and the behavior of the nocturnal fauna on the banks of the river. Our day ends with a traditional dinner in the dining room. Day 03: Visit to the Ese'eja family and artisanal fishing or orchards. After breakfast, we prepare to live an experience with the Bococo family, an Ese'eja family that has emigrated to an island near our lodge, which has adapted to survive and today actively collaborates in our programs in exchange for a donation and the sale of their crafts. Let's dance with Bococo! In the afternoon, we prepare to travel until we reach another lodge near the city and Guacamayo, which we will visit very early tomorrow. If we still have energy left, our guide will offer us a night walk that you can join. Day 04: Amazonian sunrise and departure to Puerto Maldonado This morning you will be free to enjoy the sunrise and capture the impressive views of the Madre de Dios River. You will enjoy a final, nutritious breakfast with organic ingredients from our pantry before you depart. Your guide and the staff will bid you farewell and thank you for visiting this part of the Amazon. You will travel by canoe with an outboard motor back to Puerto Maldonado. Depending on the time of departure, you will be able to relax and wait quietly for your bus back home or to your next destination.
