Zanzibar: 4-Day Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari

Day 1: Zanzibar – Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Begin with a morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha. Meet your safari guide/driver at Arusha Airport and drive to Tarangire National Park. Keep an eye out for huge elephant herds, baobab trees, lions, zebras, and giraffes. Enjoy excellent birding and game viewing around the Tarangire River. Spend the night at a lodge near Tarangire or Lake Manyara.


Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, depart for the legendary Serengeti National Park via the scenic Ngorongoro highlands. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views and an optional cultural or historical stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites.
Enter the Serengeti through Naabi Hill Gate and immediately begin an afternoon game drive in the Central Serengeti (Seronera Valley)—a region teeming with wildlife and year-round predator activity. This area is also a crucial corridor for the Great Wildebeest Migration, where, depending on the season, you may witness vast herds of wildebeest and zebras on the move, often trailed by lions, cheetahs, and other predators.
Spot elephants, giraffes, and perhaps even a leopard lounging in the shade as you traverse this iconic landscape. As the sun sets, head to Serengeti Safari Haven for a hearty dinner and overnight stay deep in the wilderness.


Day 3: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Start your day with an optional sunrise balloon safari or a morning game drive in the Serengeti. Early hours offer prime viewing of active predators and grazing herds, especially if the Wildebeest Migration is in the region.
After breakfast, continue your journey with a scenic drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying game viewing along the way. You may pass through areas still echoing with the footsteps of migrating herds, offering one last chance to witness this awe-inspiring natural spectacle.


Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Zanzibar
Descend into the Crater for a 6-hour game drive. Look out for the Big Five (especially black rhino), flamingos, zebras, and hyenas. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Drive back to Arusha in the afternoon and take an evening flight back to Zanzibar.
