JOZANI FOREST:
Jozani Forest, located southeast of the island, offers you the chance to spot the Red Colobus, an endemic species of monkey with a curious red back, dik dik antelopes, wild pigs, mongooses, and plants such as centuries-old eucalyptus, laurel, alexandrine, giant and oil palms, and mangroves.
ZANZIBAR BUTTERFLY CENTER:
The Zanzibar Butterfly Center (ZBC) is an interactive butterfly exhibit near Jozani-Chawka Bay National Park on Unguja Island, although outside the park's boundaries. The exhibit consists of a tropical garden enclosed with generally hundreds of butterflies, which are all native species of Zanzibar. The enclosure is one of the largest butterfly exhibits in Africa and provides an interactive and visual environment for Zanzibar residents and tourists to learn about butterflies.
At the ZBC you can experience the feeding and flight of butterflies at your fingertips and witness the complete life cycle of many species. The butterflies (in pupal form) are sustainably raised by people from villages around Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park. The tour usually lasts between 30-40 minutes.
