Day 1: Tunis/Hammamet/Sousse → Matmata → Ksar Ghilane

Begin your journey towards southern Tunisia. Along the way, enjoy a coffee break at a highway service station before continuing towards Matmata.

Arrive in Matmata, famous for its extraordinary landscapes and traditional underground dwellings. Visit Hotel Sidi Driss, one of Tunisia's famous Star Wars filming locations. Continue with a visit to a local Berber family in their traditional troglodyte home. Discover this unique underground architecture and learn more about the traditional way of life in southern Tunisia.

After the visits, enjoy a delicious traditional lunch at a local restaurant in Matmata. After lunch, continue towards Ksar Ghilane, a beautiful Saharan oasis located at the edge of the Grand Erg Oriental. Upon arrival, settle into your desert camp and enjoy some free time.

Take the opportunity to swim and relax in Ksar Ghilane's natural thermal spring, surrounded by the spectacular desert landscape. For those looking for more adventure, take an optional quad-bike ride through the desert dunes to the ancient Roman Fort of Tisavar.

Return to the desert camp after your adventure. In the evening, watch a traditional demonstration of how desert bread is prepared and baked beneath the hot sand. Enjoy dinner at the camp, followed by a Bedouin-style evening around the campfire. Experience the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara before spending the night at the desert camp under the beautiful starry sky.

Day 2: Ksar Ghilane → El Jem → Return

Wake up surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the Sahara. For an unforgettable start to your day, you can join an optional camel ride at sunrise and watch the first light of the day over the desert.

Return to the camp and enjoy your breakfast before departing Ksar Ghilane. Continue north towards El Jem, one of Tunisia's most important archaeological destinations.

After the visits, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, begin your return journey to your original pick-up point in Sousse, Hammamet, or Tunis, bringing your 2-day Sahara adventure to an end.
