Join a day trip from Moshi to Materuni Waterfall and a local coffee farm. Learn about coffee production, enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch, and participate in a coffee cupping session.
Begin your day with an early morning pickup from Moshi and head to Materuni Village. Meet your Chagga hosts and set off on a walk through banana groves and coffee plots to Materuni Waterfall. Arrive before the crowds and enjoy a peaceful swim in the cool pool or simply relax and listen to the water.
Return to the farm and follow coffee from cherry to cup. Pick ripe cherries, hand-pulp the beans, roast them over an open fire, and grind them the traditional way. Learn how the family has grown coffee on this slope and how the harvest shapes village life.
Then, join the family in the kitchen and help cook a traditional Chagga lunch. Sit down to eat it together and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
To finish, take part in a professional coffee cupping. Taste and compare different coffees and learn what to notice in aroma, body, and flavor. Pack the beans you roasted yourself and take them home.
