Time-honored cultural sites meet modern architecture - a tour through the new center of Düsseldorf.
Between Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz, Düsseldorf Opera House, Hofgarten and Corneliusplatz is the new center of Düsseldorf. The elevated road, affectionately known as the "Tausendfüßler" by Düsseldorfers, once characterized Schadowplatz, but now it is a car-free zone that invites you to stroll around. A green oasis with architectural highlights has been created - such as Kö-Bogen II with its 30,000 hornbeams. The new center sets the course for a climate-friendly Düsseldorf.
The tour begins at the Opera House, where you will go behind the scenes of the Düsseldorf venue of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Built in 1873 as a municipal theater, the opera house was redesigned several times before it took on its current form. After visiting the opera house, the tour leads through the Hofgarten along Kö-Bogen I to Ingenhoven-Tal and from there via Schadow-Platz to Königsallee.
