Departing from central Rome, this day trip takes you to two of Italy's most extraordinary sites: the ancient ruins of Pompeii and the steaming crater of Mt. Vesuvius. Timed-entry tickets, expert specialist guides, and round-trip coach transport are all part of the package.
Your first stop is Pompeii, where a licensed archaeologist leads you through streets of the city frozen by the 79 AD eruption. See the forum, thermal baths, and private villas, and learn the stories of the citizens who once walked these cobblestone streets.

Comfortable attire and sturdy walking shoes are essential for exploring the ruins and hiking the volcano.
Please bring a valid government-issued ID. The name on your tickets must match the name on your ID or you may be refused entry.
The hike to the Vesuvius crater covers approximately 1 km (0.6 miles) with around 140 m (460 ft) of elevation gain on a moderately steep trail of loose volcanic gravel. It typically takes 20–30 minutes uphill.
Only small bags (30x30x15 cm maximum) are permitted inside the Pompeii ruins.

In rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, the crater of Mt. Vesuvius may be closed to visitors. You will be notified as soon as possible if this occurs.
Tickets for the Vesuvius crater are non-refundable and are tied to your name. We cannot offer a refund should you be unable to attend.
