From Ulaanbaatar: Khövsgöl Lake & Tsaatan Tribe Winter Tour

Discover the beauty of Khövsgöl Lake and the Tsaatan Tribe on a winter tour from Ulaanbaatar. Meet reindeer herders, enjoy winter activities, and celebrate New Year's Eve on a train journey.
Day 1: Arrival in Mörön and Ulaan-Uul

Arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport and meet your guide. Fly to Mörön and stop at a local shop to purchase essential supplies. After lunch, drive to Ulaan-Uul soum and visit the 13 sacred cairns of the Darkhad region. Check in to your accommodation in Ulaan-Uul, then enjoy dinner, stargazing, and free time.

Day 2: Duut Bulag and the Tsaatan Reindeer Herders

After breakfast, depart for Duut Bulag. Visit Duut Bulag, then travel to the Tsaatan taiga. Meet the reindeer and experience reindeer riding. Visit a traditional Tsaatan nomadic dwelling (urts), have lunch, and depart for Rinchinlkhümbe soum. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Jargalant River and Khövsgöl Lake

After breakfast, take a trip to the Jargalant River and enjoy a walking tour along the river. Try the frozen-water experiment by tossing hot water into the freezing air and photographing the spectacular effect. After lunch, depart for Khövsgöl Lake. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Winter Activities at Khövsgöl Lake

After breakfast, depart for winter activities. Enjoy a horse-drawn sled ride and go ice skating on the frozen lake. After lunch, experience horseback riding and a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Travel to Mörön, then enjoy dinner and free time.

Day 5: Erdenet and New Year’s Eve

After breakfast, depart for Erdenet. After lunch, visit Erdenet’s central square. After dinner, board the train and depart for Ulaanbaatar. At midnight, celebrate the New Year with sparkling wine.

Day 6: Terelj National Park and Departure

Welcome the first sunrise of the New Year in Mongolia. After breakfast, travel to Terelj National Park and hike to Aryabal Meditation Temple for panoramic views of the Terelj Valley. Visit Turtle Rock and take photos with a golden eagle. Visit a traditional souvenir shop, then have lunch. Visit the Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue, then transfer to Chinggis Khaan International Airport.
