From Cusco: 3-Day Manu National Park Tour

Explore Manu National Park on a 3-day birdwatching tour from Cusco. Stay at the Wayqecha Biological Station and San Pedro Paradise Lodge, and capture photos of rare and endemic bird species.
Day 1: Cusco – Wayqecha Biological Station

Start your adventure early in the morning with a drive towards the colonial town of Paucartambo. After a short stop, continue to the Sword-billed Hummingbird Garden in Challabamba. Photograph your first Undulated Antpitta and other hummingbirds and birds that visit the garden.

Next, head to the Ajanaco Pass, the main entrance to Manu National Park. Stop to take some pictures before continuing to Wayqecha Biological Station. Upon arrival, enjoy breakfast and begin your photography activities, looking for hummingbirds and birds such as the Rufous-capped Thornbill, Sparkling Violetear, and the Cuzco Starfrontlet.

Have lunch and dinner at the lodge, and depending on the weather, you may have the chance to photograph some owls.

Day 2: Wayqecha Biological Station - San Pedro Paradise Lodge

Start your day early at the antpitta feeder, taking advantage of the first light of the day to photograph birds and hummingbirds. After breakfast, head to San Pedro Lodge, stopping at another feeder along the way to photograph tanagers, hummingbirds, and other birds.

In the afternoon, visit the Andean Cock of the Rock lek. Spend the night at San Pedro Paradise Lodge.

Day 3: San Pedro Paradise Lodge - Cusco

In the morning, before breakfast, spot birds in the lodge garden and photograph them. After breakfast, pack your equipment and head back to Cusco, stopping at the feeder garden of Tio Victor to photograph birds.

Enjoy a box lunch at the feeders, allowing you to make the most of your time in this productive photography location. After lunch, continue exploring the area and spend time along the road and nearby forest, giving you another opportunity to improve your photographs or search for species you may have missed the previous day, such as trogons, quetzals, motmots, and toucans.

In the afternoon, begin your journey back to Cusco, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
