You will discover the culture of the Uros people and their reed islands. A unique blend of adventure and tradition in the heart of the Andes! You will swim in Lake Titicaca at 12,500 feet (optional), a revitalizing challenge.
Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel for the transfer to the Port of Puno. There, we will board a speedboat that will take us across the dense water mirrors of Lake Titicaca. Upon arriving at the Uros Islands, you will be greeted by the radiant golden color of the totora reeds and the warmth of the local families.
The experience reaches its climax as you prepare for the revitalizing swim (optional). Under the supervision of your guide, you will immerse yourself in the sacred waters at an altitude of over 3,800 meters (12,467 feet).
You will learn the ancient science behind the floating islands: how the root blocks are woven together and how the soil is constantly renewed. Finally, you will have the option to board a traditional totora raft (the “Mercedes-Benz” of the lake) to sail between the islands, observing the local birds and the daily life of one of the continent's oldest cultures, before heading back with your senses completely revitalized.
