Discover the city of Ponta Delgada, the largest in the Azores, a cosmopolitan city that preserves its history and its rich architectural heritage, on this 3 hour walking tour.
Immerse yourself in the culture and history of this beautiful city. You will meet your guide at Portas da Cidade, the 18th-century city gate, three imposing arches decorated with symbolic elements, made of dark volcanic basalt.
After a short historical contextualization about the discovery of the Azores and its population, we´ll visit the beautifull view of the bell tower, part of Ponta Delgada city hall building.
The Parish Church of Saint Sebastian will delight you with its main portal is in the Manueline style. Then, crossing rua dos mercadores, one of the most important streets in Ponta Delgada, where we are going to visit Principe dos Queijos store, where you can glimpse all the regional products, especially cheese. Facing towards Mercado da Graça, we can find regional products and fresh fruits, one of the most emblematic places in the city.
The last visit will be to Carlos Machado Museum and it natural history exhibiltion. A huge collection with special importance to zoology, geology, mineralogy and botany.
