3-Day Ugandan tour with Murchison Falls, Rhinos & Chimpanzee

Embark on an authentic Ugandan safari from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park. Track rhinos on foot, enjoy a game drive, cruise the Nile, and track chimpanzees in Budongo Forest.
Day 1: Pick up – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park
Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Travel north through Uganda's countryside, to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, approximately 3 hours from Kampala.

After a short briefing from your ranger, begin a guided walking safari. Unlike traditional game drives, this experience allows you to approach Uganda's only wild rhinos on foot, often coming within 10–20 meters of these incredible animals. The tracking usually lasts 1–2 hours and is suitable for most fitness levels.

After lunch, continue towards Murchison Falls National Park. Before checking into your lodge, visit the famous Top of Murchison Falls, introducing you to the world's most powerful waterfall.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Victoria Nile Boat Cruise

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive across the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park. The open savannah provides excellent opportunities to spot Rothschild's giraffes, African elephants, Cape buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Jackson's hartebeests, warthogs, lions (with luck), hyenas (with luck), and leopards (with luck). The park is home to over 76 mammal species and hundreds of bird species, making every drive unique.

After lunch, head to the Nile for the Victoria Nile boat cruise taking you slowly towards the base of Murchison Falls while offering exceptional wildlife viewing along the riverbanks. During the cruise, you'll often see hippos relaxing in large pods, Nile crocodiles basking in the sun, African fish eagles, kingfishers, bee-eaters, and water birds feeding along the shoreline. As you approach the falls, witness enormous volumes of water exploding through the narrow gorge—a breathtaking sight from below. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Budongo Forest Chimpanzee Tracking – Return to Kampala

After an early breakfast, drive to Budongo Forest's Kaniyo Pabidi visitor center for one of Uganda's most rewarding wildlife experiences. Budongo is one of East Africa's largest mahogany forests and is famous for its habituated chimpanzee communities managed alongside conservation partners. The forest also supports hundreds of bird species and several other primates.

After a ranger briefing, enter the forest in small guided groups as experienced trackers follow fresh calls, footprints, and signs left by the chimpanzees. The trek typically lasts 2–4 hours, depending on chimpanzees have moved that morning. Once they're located, spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watch them swing through towering mahogany trees, groom one another, feed on wild fruits, communicate with loud pant-hoots, and care for their young. Besides chimpanzees, you may also encounter black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, butterflies, and colorful forest birds. After the trek, enjoy lunch before beginning your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening.
