You will learn how green coffee beans are washed, roasted over an open flame, and ground by hand using a traditional mortar and pestle. As the rich aroma fills the room, your host will brew the coffee in a traditional clay pot (jebena) and serve it in small cups.

2. Preparing Traditional Ethiopian Dishes

Step into the kitchen for a hands-on cooking experience guided by a local expert. You will begin preparing Ethiopia’s most beloved dishes using fresh ingredients and traditional spices such as berbere and mitmita.

• Prepare flavorful stews like doro wot (spiced chicken stew) or shiro (chickpea stew)
• Chop, season, and simmer dishes using authentic techniques
