Your guide will meet you in the lobby of your downtown hotel at the agreed time, and we’ll start our wonderful sightseeing tour.
If you choose Route A Day Tour:
First, we’ll visit the famous Yu Garden and Yu Garden Bazaar. Built back in 1559, Yu Garden is Shanghai’s largest and most renowned classical garden. Around it are plenty of small shops and stalls selling souvenirs, handcrafts, folk ornaments and local snacks.
Next, head to Jade Buddha Temple, a top Buddhist temple in Shanghai constructed in the Qing Dynasty. Two jade Buddha statues — one sitting and one reclining — were shipped all the way from Myanmar. You can admire the exquisite architecture while your guide tells you the temple’s history and stories.
For lunch, we’ll try authentic local shengjian pan-fried buns. After lunch, go up to the Shanghai Tower, China’s tallest building and the world’s second tallest, to enjoy panoramic city views.
In the late afternoon, take a stroll around the French Concession and the Bund. When the tour ends, our team will drive you back to your hotel. You may also stay at the Bund to explore the night scene on your own if you like.
If you choose Route B Day Tour:
We’ll start the day with a tour of Zhujiajiao Water Town. After lunch, we’ll visit Yu Garden and the Bund. Zhujiajiao Water Town is Shanghai’s largest and best-preserved original water town. Once a major commercial hub in the Jiangnan region, it thrived on rice and textile trades. The ancient layout featuring one river, nine streets, thirty-six bridges and thousands of Ming & Qing buildings remains intact to this day.
Here stands Shanghai’s largest five-arch stone bridge built in the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty, as well as the only surviving Qing Dynasty post office in East China. Take a rowing boat to experience the authentic waterfront lifestyle. As the closest Jiangnan water town to downtown Shanghai, it boasts profound canal transport culture and abundant ancient bridges and architectures. You can explore profound history and enjoy a leisurely slow pace of life here.
