We'll meet at the Portal del Roser to begin our adventure next to the iconic Tarragona wall, the oldest construction in Roman Tarraco and one of its symbols.

We'll stroll through the picturesque streets of Cavallers and Major, where you can admire the medieval-style architecture and feel the vibrant atmosphere of the city. Our route will lead us to the staircase that leads to the Pla de la Seu, in the Part Alta of Tarragona, where we'll be welcomed by the majestic Cathedral of Santa Tecla, built on Roman, Visigoth and Arab sites, with a Gothic rose window that will impress you. Very close by, the historic Plaza del Foro awaits us. This was the ancient center of Roman social and political life, and we can see its magnificent remains here.

But there's still much more, as we'll head to the National Archaeological Museum and stop in front of the imposing Torre del Pretorio, or Castillo del Rey, a fortress where we'll find the statue of a mythical figure. Do you want to meet Augustus? The first Roman emperor will greet us, gazing out to sea, to tell us about the splendor of this magnificent city's past.

Can you imagine what the thrilling chariot races were like? We'll head to the Roman Circus, an architectural complex that ended up embedded in the urban center of Tarragona, making it one of the best-preserved in the world.

From here, our steps will take us to Plaza de la UNESCO, located at a point that connects the upper part of the city with the seaside neighborhood. This place commemorates the declaration of the archaeological complex of Tarraco as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which includes a total of fourteen protected sites!

The time is approaching to end the visit, so we'll have to do it in style. We'll enter the Parque del Miracle, a terraced Roman garden with native Mediterranean plants that serves as a prelude to the Amphitheater, an impressive venue built near the sea where all kinds of shows were held, such as gladiator fights.

To finish, we'll say goodbye from the Balcony of the Mediterranean, a very special vantage point for the people of Tarragona located at the end of the Rambla Nova, from which you can enjoy a privileged panoramic view of the Mare Nostrum, the harbor, and the amphitheater. The perfect spot to recommend the best places to taste the city's rich cuisine, a mix of fresh fish and local agricultural products, to be paired with excellent wines or the typical vermouth as an aperitif.
