Beschreibung
Explore Kanazawa’s contemporary art scene with a private guide. Walk through selected KAMU art spaces and, depending on your option, visit the 100-Year Forest Museum to discover Ishikawa artists.
Discover Kanazawa’s contemporary art scene on a private walking tour through the city’s art spaces. This tour is not about finding one “correct” answer to each artwork. Instead, your guide will help you enjoy contemporary art by looking at space, perspective, materials, movement, and the relationship between art and the city.
Meet your guide in front of FamilyMart Kanazawa Katamachi 2-chome, then walk to KAMU Center. After checking your ticket, catalog, and map, your guide will confirm which KAMU spaces are open on the day and explain the route. KAMU is a private contemporary art museum spread across multiple locations in central Kanazawa, so the walk between spaces is also part of the experience.
Start at KAMU Center, where you will view works such as Leandro Erlich’s INFINITE STAIRCASE, if available. Rather than explaining everything immediately, your guide will first give you time to observe, then introduce ideas such as illusion, space, viewpoint, and physical experience.
Next, continue on foot to selected KAMU spaces. Depending on opening conditions on the day, your guide will take you to 2 or 3 available locations. Along the way, you may encounter photography, installations, and space-based works, including pieces such as Daido Moriyama’s Lip Bar, if available. Your guide will help you consider how contemporary art changes when it is experienced inside buildings, along streets, and within the urban landscape of Kanazawa.
If you choose the extended option, continue to the 100-Year Forest Museum, open on limited days. Here, you will discover works by local Ishikawa artists, including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, and three-dimensional works, depending on the exhibition. This visit adds a local perspective to the tour, showing Kanazawa not only as a city of traditional culture, but also as a place where contemporary artistic expression continues to grow.
The tour ends at the final art space or, for the extended option, in front of the 100-Year Forest Museum.
