Beschreibung

Discover Kyoto’s quieter side on a private day trip to Mount Hiei, Lake Biwa, Ukimido, La Collina, and Omi Hachiman’s canal town with hotel pickup.
Discover a quieter side of Kyoto and Shiga on a private day trip designed around culture, scenery, and comfortable pacing. Instead of visiting the same crowded Kyoto highlights, this route follows the story of water and faith: from Mount Hiei, the sacred mountain between Kyoto and Lake Biwa, to the lakeside temples and old merchant town of Omi Hachiman.

Start with pickup from your hotel in Kyoto and travel by private vehicle to Hieizan Enryakuji Temple. This World Heritage temple complex is one of the most important spiritual sites in Japanese Buddhism and offers a peaceful mountain atmosphere away from the city.

Continue to Ukimido, a small floating temple hall on Lake Biwa. Its quiet lakeside scenery has long been admired as part of the Eight Views of Omi, making it a beautiful stop for photos and a calm walk by the water.

Next, visit La Collina Omihachiman, a unique sweets village known for its grass-roof architecture, Baumkuchen, cafes, shops, and seasonal scenery. Enjoy free time for lunch, coffee, sweets, and shopping.

In the afternoon, explore Hachiman-bori Canal and the old Omi merchant town. Walk along white-walled storehouses, traditional streets, and the canal that once connected local merchants with Kyoto, Osaka, and Edo. You can purchase a boat tour of Hachiman-bori from the options below.

The standard plan includes a basic English-speaking driver. The driver assists with pickup, route, parking, and simple communication, but does not provide historical explanations or interpretation inside attractions. For full commentary, please select the English or Chinese guide option.
