Begin your day with a convenient pickup from Osaka and head to Kyoto. Visit the Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site and Kyoto’s oldest temple, founded in 778. Explore the temple grounds and visit the Jishu Shrine, famed for blessings in love and matchmaking.
Next, stroll through the historic streets of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, lined with traditional shops perfect for savoring local snacks and buying handicrafts. Continue to Ishibe Alley, a quiet cobblestone lane with elegant traditional houses, offering a peaceful escape from the crowds.
Head to Gion and Hanamikoji, Kyoto’s iconic geisha district, where you can glimpse traditional teahouses and feel the atmosphere of old Japan. Finally, visit Yasaka Shrine, one of Kyoto’s most famous shrines, popular for writing wishes on ema (including love-themed tablets) and purchasing charms.
Afterward, make your way to Fushimi Inari Taisha, renowned for its thousands of torii gates. Spend some time exploring the shrine and offering prayers for yourself and your loved ones.
Continue to Nara Park, situated at the base of Mount Wakakusa in Nara. The park is famous for its freely roaming deer, which visitors can feed—though be mindful as they can be quite eager. Nearby Mount Wakakusa provides a stunning overlook of Nara and hosts the annual "mountain burning" ceremony in January.
Finally, visit Tōdai-ji Temple, founded in 752, which houses the Great Buddha (Vairocana) inside the world’s largest wooden building. Though rebuilt in the 17th century after fires, it remains an impressive symbol of Japanese Buddhist heritage. Additional structures on the grounds include the Nandaimon Gate and Nigatsu-dō Hall.
