Embark on a different trip from Chivay to Puno and discover the Peruvian highlands through their landscapes, culture, nature, and Andean worldview. During the tour, you'll pass through pampas, volcanoes, mountains, and lagoons as your tour guide shares stories and traditions.
Your experience begins in Chivay, heading towards Puno. The first stop will be at Patapampa, one of the highest points on the route. See the towering Apus, the mountains considered protectors within the Andean worldview. Learn about their meaning and the ancestral relationship between people and nature.
You'll also discover the apachetas, small mounds of stones associated with the ancient Andean trails. Your tour guide will explain their meaning and the principle of reciprocity: giving thanks, asking for protection, and continuing the journey with respect. You'll have a personal moment to symbolically express a wish or gratitude, without leaving any objects in nature.
Next, you'll learn about some traditional plants of the Andes and the stories passed down through generations about their cultural importance. As part of the experience, you'll enjoy a hot mate, an infusion prepared with traditional plants of the region, while learning about the customs related to Andean drinks.
The route will continue through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca Nature Reserve, where you can observe free-roaming vicuñas and enjoy landscapes dominated by volcanoes and vast high Andean pampas. You'll have time to take in the scenery and take photos.
Finally, you'll arrive at Laguna Lagunillas, where its waters reflect the mountains and the sky of the high plateau. Your tour guide will share a commentary inspired by the Andean worldview, related to water, the Apus, and Pachamama. It will be a moment to contemplate the lagoon, give thanks, and continue on your way.
After this experience, you will continue on to Puno, crossing the landscapes of the high plateau. Upon arrival, the Mundo Andino team will provide you with assistance and guidance.
