Rwanda: 2-Day Volcanoes National Park Gorilla Trekking Tour

Embark on a 2-day adventure from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park. Trek through the park to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat and enjoy an overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 1 – Scenic Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Musanze Caves Exploration

Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel or Kigali International Airport by your professional driver-guide. As you travel toward Northwestern Rwanda, enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, vibrant villages, and scenic countryside landscapes known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Along the journey, travelers can enjoy optional scenic stopovers for photography, coffee tasting, or local craft shopping.

Visiting the fascinating Musanze Caves, one of Rwanda’s most unique geological and cultural attractions. Formed by ancient volcanic activity from the Virunga Mountains, these caves stretch for over 2 kilometers and feature dramatic rock formations, natural tunnels, and historical chambers once used as shelter during different periods of Rwanda’s history.

Visiting the Gorilla Guardians Village, an authentic cultural experience located near Volcanoes National Park. This community-based tourism initiative offers travelers the opportunity to discover Rwanda’s rich traditions, history, and local way of life while directly supporting surrounding communities and former poachers who now work in conservation and tourism.

Visiting the modern Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund campus near Volcanoes National Park, a world-renowned center dedicated to gorilla conservation, scientific research, education, and community development.

After the journey, continue to Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay surrounded by beautiful volcano views.

Day 2
Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Drive back to Kigali
After breakfast from your booked lodge/hotel, you will check out and pack your bags then our English speaking driver-guide will pick you up and drive you to the park office for registration. There, you'll be briefed about gorilla behaviors and how to behave while visiting the park. The driver-guide will drive you from the park office to the start of the walking point.
From here, you will hike with a local guide who will help you to enjoy the gorillas and the entire park. On arrival, the guide will give you the time to take as many photos as possible and enjoy the trek.
After that guided trek, you will go back to the driver who will take you back to Kigali and drop you off at the airport or at your hotel.
