Hello, wine lover! You're going straight to the source! Taste the unique Georgian wine made right where winemaking began. Immerse yourself in the historical moments that make this place special.
Our delicious journey starts in Badiauri Village. You're walking straight into the kitchen of Georgian culture!
We’ll get hands-on and learn the fun, sticky art of making Churchkhela—that amazing sweet treat. You'll dip those nutty strings into the sweet grape juice (Tatara) and taste the freshest batch right away!
Next, we roll up our sleeves for the bread-making masterclass. You'll witness how simple dough magically turns into a perfect, crusty, warm Georgian loaf baked in a tone oven. We’ll pair that warm bread with amazing homemade Georgian cheeses: the stretchy delight of Sulguni and the fresh, soft bite of Imeruli. This stop is pure comfort food!
Stop 2: Bodbe Monastery – History and Holy Views
Time for a moment of peace! We head to the stunning Bodbe Monastery, which sits gracefully overlooking the Alazani Valley. You can feel the tranquility here.
This site is incredibly special because it’s the burial place of St. Nino, the incredible woman who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. Walking these sacred grounds, you’ll appreciate the deep faith woven into the country's fabric. Plus, the panoramic views are jaw-dropping!
Stop 3: Sighnaghi – The City That Whispers "I Love You"
Next, get ready for romance! We arrive in the captivating hilltop town of Sighnaghi, famously nicknamed the "City of Love." With its fortified walls and colorful streets, it looks straight out of a storybook.
We’ll stroll along the defensive walls, soaking in the truly epic views of the Caucasus Mountains. While we wander, you'll hear the legendary tale of the great painter, Niko Pirosmani. He loved an actress so much that he famously sold everything he owned to fill the square beneath her window with a sea of roses—a true, grand romantic gesture!
Stop 4: The Wine Cellar – Your Passport to 8,000 Years of Flavor!
Okay, this is what you came for! We are heading into a traditional, cozy wine cellar (Marani) to salute the incredible fact that Georgia is the Birthplace of Wine—8,000 years of tradition!
You'll embark on an unforgettable tasting session where you can sample up to 10 different types of homemade Georgian wine. We're talking everything from those rich amber (orange) wines made the ancient way (in Qvevri) to lovely reds and refreshing whites.
We’ll finish by sampling different flavors of Chacha—Georgia’s potent, flavorful grape brandy. It’s fiery, fun, and the perfect local digestif!
By the time we head back, you won’t just feel like a tourist; you’ll feel like an honorary Georgian, full of incredible food, wine, stories, and unforgettable memories. Gaumarjos (Cheers)!
