Two days across southern Tunisia: the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem, the troglodyte houses of Matmata, a night in Douz, the Chott El Jerid salt lake, the Tozeur oasis and Kairouan.
Two days across the Tunisian south, from Roman ruins to the edge of the Sahara.
On the first day you take the road to El Jem and its Roman amphitheatre, one of the largest and best preserved in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You continue to Matmata, known for its troglodyte dwellings carved into the earth. In the late afternoon you reach Douz, the gateway to the Sahara, where you spend the night at a 3-star hotel with dinner and breakfast included.
On the second day you cross the Chott El Jerid, a vast salt lake, and reach the Tozeur oasis, where you have free time in the town. Lunch is served in Gafsa before the road to Kairouan, the fourth holy city of Islam, where you have free time in the city before returning to your hotel.
You travel in an air-conditioned coach with hotel pick-up and drop-off, accompanied by an ONTT-licensed guide and driver.

Pack an overnight bag: you spend one night in Douz.
Bring warm clothing, nights in the south can be cold even in summer.
Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
Bring your ID or passport and some local currency.
The 4x4 excursion to the mountain oases is optional and paid on site.
This tour involves long coach journeys and walking on uneven ground. A good level of mobility is required. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility.
Please bring your voucher on the day of departure.
