Discover the best of Hue on a customizable private city tour with an English-speaking driver. Explore the ancient Hue Imperial City, visit royal tombs, pagodas, incense villages,..
Begin your journey at the Khai Dinh Tomb, one of the most unique and striking imperial tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty. Located in Hue, Vietnam, this tomb is a fusion of traditional Oriental design with Western architectural influences, including Gothic, Romanesque, Indian, and Buddhist styles.

Perched on the slope of Chau Chu Mountain, the tomb complex is smaller in land area compared to others, but it compensates with intricate detail and vertical grandeur. Climb 127 stone steps to reach the main sanctuary.

Next, visit the Minh Mang Tomb, renowned as one of the most majestic, harmonious, and traditional imperial tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty in Hue. Unlike the eclectic European-influenced Khai Dinh Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb is built strictly in the traditional Vietnamese-Chinese style. All main structures—gates, courtyards, pavilions, and the burial mound—are aligned along a single 700-meter central axis (the Symmetrical Axis or Dthan Dao).
and lotus ponds, the entire area feels like a serene, expansive royal garden.

Then, head to the Tu Hieu Pagoda, one of the most serene, ancient, and historically significant Buddhist temples in Hue, famous for its association with the Nguyen Dynasty court as well as the global Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Founded in 1843 by Zen Master Nhat Dien, it was originally a small hut named Thao Am Duong Xuan.

According to legend, the master cared for his ailing mother here, walking miles to buy fish for her despite the Buddhist vegetarian tradition, demonstrating deep filial love. When Emperor Tu Duc learned of this story, he bestowed the name Tu Hieu (Tu meaning compassion, Hieu meaning filial piety).
