Discover the backwaters of Kerala on a 9-day tour from Cochin. Visit the city of Cochin, the tea plantations of Munnar, the spice plantations of Thekkady, and the backwaters of Kumarakom and Alleppey.
Day 1: Cochin
On arrival in Cochin, be greeted and escorted to your hotel. Check in and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2: Cochin
Enjoy a full day visit to the city of Cochin. Visit the Portuguese Church built by St. Francis in 1562, the Jewish Synagogue, the famed Mattancherry Palace, and the Chinese fishing nets. Return to your hotel and spend the night.
Day 3: Cochin – Munnar (145 km – 4 hours)
Drive to Munnar, set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district. Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Famous for unending tea plantations, pristine valleys and mountains, and exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests. Check in and spend the night.
Day 4: Munnar – Periyar (100 km – 2 hours)
Transfer to Periyar (Thekkady). On the way, visit a spice plantation in the cardamom hills. Proceed to Thekkady. Check in and spend the night.
Day 5: Periyar
In the morning, visit the national park of Periyar. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride in the lake in the middle of the Periyar reserve. Spend the night in Periyar.
Day 6: Periyar – Kumarakom – Alleppey (125 km – 3:30 hours)
Transfer to Kumarakom and board a houseboat. Ride to see the life around the Vembanad lake. Enjoy dinner and spend the night on board.
Day 7: Alleppey – Kumarakom (170 km – 4:30 hours)
Arrive in the morning at Alleppey and transfer by car to Kumarakom. Check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 8: Kumarakom
Spend the day at your leisure for Ayurvedic treatments, relaxation, and other activities. Spend the night in Kumarakom.
Day 9: Kumarakom – Cochin
Spend the morning at your leisure. In the afternoon, transfer to Cochin Airport to take the international flight.
