Description
This night tour combines natural romance with the lively charm of the city, making it one of the most popular choices for foreign visitors to experience Kyoto’s cherry blossom season.
Your journey starts near Yasaka Shrine. In the afternoon sunlight filtering through cherry blossom branches, dappled light falls on the stone paths. The air is filled with the soft fragrance of cherry blossoms and ancient trees. Every photo you take is a beautiful Japanese-style shot without filters. This is the heart of Kyoto’s Gion district, where you may occasionally spot people in elegant kimono, creating a truly atmospheric scene.
Next, head to Maruyama Park, one of Kyoto’s most popular cherry blossom spots and a favorite local leisure area. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the park becomes a sea of pink.During the cherry blossom season, lively stalls line the park. You can wander slowly, browse the market, pick lovely cherry-blossom-themed souvenirs, and feel the unique energy of the festival.
After the park, take the JR train to the Takatani River Canal — a hidden gem for night cherry blossoms and local life. With a long history as an important trade route, the canal now features clear, peaceful waters. Cherry blossoms hang over the banks, combining with traditional wooden townhouses and small bridges to create a stunning night view.As evening wind blows, the scent of cherry blossoms mixes with the fresh river air, bringing a deep sense of peace.
Around the Takatani River Canal is Kyoto’s beloved local izakaya (pub) area, also a favorite among international visitors.Unlike busy commercial districts, these small, low-key izakayas are full of authentic local warmth — wooden tables, warm lighting, handwritten menus. Here you can enjoy classic Japanese food while looking out at cherry blossoms and the canal at night. It’s a relaxed, genuine way to experience Kyoto’s evening vibe. From casual pubs to speciality restaurants, you’ll find a spot that suits you perfectly.
Important note for the Cherry Blossom Season option:
Cherry blossom blooming dates vary each year and cannot be predicted with complete accuracy. If you book the Cherry Blossom Season option and the blossoms have not yet opened on your selected date, we will notify you at least two days in advance. You may choose to reschedule or switch to the Evening option for other seasons, and any price difference will be refunded.
Evening Option (Other Seasons):
Outside of cherry blossom season, the experience offers insight into Kyoto’s traditional culture and nighttime atmosphere. The walk begins in the Hanamikoji area, one of the city’s most iconic historic streets. As you stroll through this district, your local guide will share stories and customs related to geisha culture. With some luck, you may even see a geisha or maiko on her way to an evening engagement.
