Most visitors experience Kyoto during the daytime. This experience begins in the early evening, when the crowds gradually thin out and the city reveals a quieter, more atmospheric side. Designed as a relaxed walking experience, it focuses on local culture, seasonal scenery, and Kyoto’s nighttime rhythm.

Cherry Blossom Season Option (Spring Limited):
During cherry blossom season, the walk starts near Yasaka Shrine and follows a scenic route toward Maruyama Park. Each spring, this path becomes a lively seasonal street market with food stalls offering freshly prepared local snacks. On clear days, the timing aligns with sunset, as warm light filters through blooming cherry trees and lanterns begin to glow, creating the feeling of a spring festival enjoyed by locals.

Arriving at Maruyama Park at dusk, you will find residents gathering beneath cherry trees for hanami, the traditional custom of enjoying cherry blossoms with food and drinks. Guests are welcome to join this spring-only outdoor atmosphere, sitting beneath the blossoms, sampling street food, and enjoying drinks at their own pace. This is not a staged event, but an authentic seasonal ritual locals look forward to each year.

As night falls, the experience continues toward the Takasegawa Canal and the Kiyamachi area, one of Kyoto’s best-known cherry blossom locations. Soft lights reflect on the narrow canal, and cherry trees arch over the water, creating a calm nighttime scene. Along the riverside, you’ll find small izakayas and bars favored by locals. Guests may stop at any venue that catches their eye for drinks or light snacks while enjoying the night cherry blossoms. The experience naturally comes to an end along the canal, with time to continue strolling or explore nearby streets.

Important note for the Cherry Blossom Season option:
Cherry blossom blooming dates vary each year and cannot be predicted with complete accuracy. If you book the Cherry Blossom Season option and the blossoms have not yet opened on your selected date, we will notify you at least two days in advance. You may choose to reschedule or switch to the Evening option for other seasons, and any price difference will be refunded.

Evening Option (Other Seasons):
Outside of cherry blossom season, the experience offers insight into Kyoto’s traditional culture and nighttime atmosphere. The walk begins in the Hanamikoji area, one of the city’s most iconic historic streets. As you stroll through this district, your local guide will share stories and customs related to geisha culture. With some luck, you may even see a geisha or maiko on her way to an evening engagement.

The walk then continues to the Takasegawa Canal, where you can experience Kyoto’s relaxed riverside bar scene. Small izakayas line the canal, offering a quiet way to enjoy Kyoto after dark.

Food and drinks are not included, allowing guests the freedom to choose what and where to eat.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
