Description
Experience Kyoto’s Gion through a hands-on tea ceremony. Watch, learn, and whisk matcha, taste sweets, and discover the spirit of omotenashi in a serene setting that blends tradition and warmth.
In the heart of Kyoto’s historic Gion district, this tea ceremony experience invites you into a calm and elegant space where tradition meets comfort. You will be surrounded by the quiet atmosphere of Japanese hospitality while learning about the centuries-old art of matcha.
The instructor shares stories about the history of tea and the philosophy of omotenashi, giving depth to what you see and do. You’ll watch the refined gestures of a live tea ceremony, beautifully lit so that every movement feels graceful and meaningful.
Alongside the performance, you’ll enjoy traditional Japanese sweets carefully paired with matcha. The balance of flavors highlights the harmony at the heart of the tea ceremony, making the tasting as memorable as the ritual itself.
This is also a hands-on activity: you’ll whisk your own bowl of matcha under gentle guidance, learning the rhythm and technique that define the practice. As you sip what you’ve made, you’ll discover a rare chance to slow down, connect with the moment, and take home both knowledge and a simple recipe to recreate the experience yourself.
