Li River Bamboo Raft and Fisherman Tour

Experience the Li River at dusk on a bamboo raft with a local fisherman. Watch a cormorant fishing demonstration, see the karst peaks turn gold, and listen to a fisherman’s folk song.
Meet at a village pier you won’t find on maps. There’s no ticket booth or sign, just a bamboo raft tied to an old willow. Push off and glide along the river. There’s no engine, just the pole pushing against river stones. Watch as the karst peaks turn from green to grey to gold.

Listen as the fisherman calls his cormorants. Their names are rough sounds you can‘t pronounce. Watch as they dive, catch, and return.

As the sun sets, the peaks become silhouettes. There are no other boats or shore lights, just the sound of water against bamboo.

Watch as the fisherman lights the lantern. See one small flame reflected in the black river. He doesn’t speak, and neither do you.

If you’re lucky, he might sing. Listen to a few lines, low, in a dialect you don‘t understand. Watch as the cormorants shake water from their wings.

Return to shore. The fisherman ties the raft back to the willow. There’s no handshake, just a nod. You came as a tourist and leave as a witness.
