From Vienna: Guided Day Trip to Melk, Hallstatt, & Salzburg

Take a day trip from Vienna to the many famous cities throughout Austria, including Mozart’s birthplace in Salzburg, the salt mines in Hallstatt, and the monastery in Melk. Enjoy hotel pickup and drop-off.

First, get picked up in the morning from your hotel, and get on the road to your first stop at Melk. Take a tour of the largest Benedictine monastery in Europe, where biblical motifs by Flemish painter Jorg Breu flank the walls.

Next, continue to Hallstatt, a fairytale picturesque village surrounded by the Dachstein Mountains. Visit the famous salt mines, or wander and enjoy the incredible atmosphere and views from the cable car.

Then, consider visiting one of Hallstatt’s Chapel of St. Michael. Here, you’ll see decorated skulls in the decor. Continuing to the next stop, climb back on board as you head to Salzburg, where Mozart was born.

In Salzburg, you can walk through the historic city center, experience shopping on the Getreidegasse, discover the romantic Mirabelle Castle, the Cathedral of St. Rupert and Virgil, and the landmark of the famous Salzburg, the Hohensalzburg fortress.

Finally, relax with a coffee or an ice cream before returning to Vienna in the evening. Enjoy being seamlessly dropped off back at your hotel.
