Discover the local culture of Zhangjiajie on a guided tour. Visit a traditional wet market, learn the basics of Hunan-style mahjong, and practice your new skills with guided practice rounds.
Begin your experience with a visit to a traditional Zhangjiajie wet market. See where locals buy tea leaves, spicy dried tofu, sunflower seeds, pickled radish, candied ginger, fresh produce, and smoked goods. Your guide will explain what makes a good "mahjong snack" (easy to eat with one hand). You may buy small snacks if you wish.
Next, sit down with a cup of Zhangjiajie mountain tea. Your English-speaking guide will share how mahjong became Hunan's favorite pastime, the "Hunan bullet" scoring system (simpler than it sounds), and the unwritten rules of playing with locals.
Then, learn tile recognition, Hunan-style rules, and local expressions. Play guided practice rounds with your group. Snack on your market finds while you play.

Your guide will meet you at Exit A, Zhangjiajie Bus Station (张家界汽车站A出口). Meeting times: 9:00 AM for the morning session, or 2:00 PM for the afternoon session. You can also send us a message to discuss the meeting time with your instructor.
