After arriving near the gorge, sit down to a truly local lunch. Qingyuan is famous for its high-quality chicken, and the restaurant offers a variety of chicken dishes—including scallion oil chicken, sauna-style chicken hot pot, roast chicken, and Cantonese white-cut chicken—so you’re free to choose whichever one appeals to you most.

Their homemade tofu is also wonderfully distinctive, quite unlike what you’ll find in the city or elsewhere. As a bonus, the restaurant even has a natural mountain spring water swimming pool, so feel free to take a refreshing dip if you’d like.

Then it’s time to head into Gulong Gorge. Kick things off with a go-karting session on a twisting mountain track. Get behind the wheel, feel the rush of tight turns and quick acceleration, and enjoy the thrill of racing as the gorge towers around you.

Next, test your nerve on the famous glass bridge, suspended above the canyon with waterfalls crashing below. Take your time, breathe in the mist, and enjoy a walk you’ll remember long after the late-afternoon drive back to Guangzhou.

If time allows, you may also choose to ride the Cliff Coaster (optional, at your own expense), a gravity-powered ride that hugs the edge of the canyon. Wind along the cliffside, pick up speed on the descents, and take in heart-racing views of the valley below.
