Shanghai to Hangzhou: tea & essences by High-Speed Train

Escape Shanghai on a high-speed train day trip to Hangzhou. Explore West Lake, pick and hand-roast Longjing tea, and stroll historic streets filled with local flavors.
Meet your guide at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and board the high-speed train to Hangzhou. Upon arrival, head to West Lake, known as "Heaven on Earth," and explore its scenic spots, including the Lakeside Scenic Area, Broken Bridge, Bai Causeway, and Su Causeway. Admire the Leifeng Pagoda and Three Pools Mirroring the Moon from a distance.

Next, visit the Longjing Tea Plantation to learn about Chinese tea culture. Stroll through the tea garden, learn about the history of Longjing tea, and, depending on the season, pick tea leaves. Then, taste authentic West Lake Longjing tea.

Under the guidance of a professional instructor, experience the traditional art of Longjing tea frying. Learn the traditional frying techniques, try your hand at frying tea, and taste the Longjing tea you helped make.

Enjoy a traditional Hangzhou-style lunch (at your own expense) before heading to Southern Song Imperial Street. Stroll along this historic street and admire the ancient architecture, old shops, tea culture experience halls, creative shops, and intangible cultural heritage displays.

Head to Hefang Street, the most vibrant street in Hangzhou, for some free time. Stroll at your own pace and experience the charm of old Hangzhou. Sample Hangzhou snacks, buy souvenirs, visit century-old shops, admire traditional handicraft displays, and take photos.

Finally, meet your guide and return to Hangzhou East Railway Station to board the high-speed train back to Shanghai.
