Descripción

Discover Sarajevo’s Old Town on foot, from the historic streets of Baščaršija to Ottoman landmarks, Austro-Hungarian architecture, local traditions, and the city’s unique cultural heritage.
Your walking tour begins at the famous Sebilj Fountain in Baščaršija, where you will meet your guide and discover Sarajevo's fascinating history and cultural heritage.

We enter Kazandžiluk, an old Ottoman street where a local family of artisans will introduce you to traditional copper craftsmanship, a skill preserved through generations. Next, we explore Bravadžiluk, Sarajevo's famous food street, discovering traditional Bosnian dishes and local culinary customs.

We then visit Sarajevo City Hall, a stunning example of Austro-Hungarian architecture, before crossing the street to discover Inat Kuća, the famous House of Spite, and the story of the stubborn owner who refused to surrender his home.

Our walk continues towards the Sarajevo Brewery, where you will learn about its historical importance, particularly during the siege when access to clean drinking water was essential. We pass the Franciscan Monastery and discover its role in Sarajevo's Catholic heritage before visiting the Emperor's Mosque, one of the city's earliest mosques.

At the Latin Bridge, hear the story of Archduke Franz Ferdinand's assassination in 1914 and the events that helped trigger the First World War. We then explore the historic Bezistan bazaar before reaching the Meeting of Cultures marker, where Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architecture meet.

Continue along Ferhadija, Sarajevo's lively pedestrian street, towards the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Next, visit Markale Market to learn about its importance to local life and the tragic events that took place there during the siege of Sarajevo. We then stop at the Eternal Flame, a memorial dedicated to the victims of the Second World War.

Our route continues back along Ferhadija to the historic Orthodox Church, where you will discover more about Sarajevo's Serbian Orthodox community. Finally, we visit the magnificent Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and its surrounding streets, learning about its importance to the city's religious, educational, and cultural life.

We finish in the heart of the Old Town, but the experience goes beyond visiting landmarks. By the end of the tour, you'll understand Sarajevo's traditions, history, and unique blend of East and West. You'll also gain local insights, discover places worth revisiting, learn about traditional Bosnian food, and feel more confident exploring the city independently. Whether it's your first visit or you've already started exploring, you'll experience Sarajevo through the eyes of someone who knows it best.
