Varna: Northern Black Sea Coast Tour with Wine Tasting

Begin with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Varna or nearby resort areas. Head north to your first stop, Aladzha Monastery, a rocky monastery dating back to the 13th century. Explore the rocky dwellings of the monks and the museum, which offers insights into the history of Christianity in Varna and a real model of the monastery.

Continue to Balchik, a small coastal town known as the "White Town," named after the medieval ruler Balik and the white limestone cliffs it was built on. Visit the town’s most popular attraction, the Botanical Garden, and the Summer Residence of Romanian Queen Maria, with its beautifully arranged gardens. Enjoy a wine tasting at Queen's Winery.

After lunch, head to Cape Kaliakra, a natural and architectural reserve with cliffs rising more than 60 meters above the sea and ruins of a medieval fortress from the 14th century. Learn about the ancient story of this magnificent place, admire the stunning views from the edge of the cliffs, and, if you're lucky, watch dolphins play in the sea.

Continue north to Cape Shabla, the easternmost point of Bulgaria. On the way, stop in the small coastal village of Tyulenovo, named after the monk seals that used to live there. Capture stunning photos at the Tyulenovo stone bridge.

At Cape Shabla, see the oldest and highest working lighthouse in the Balkans and learn about its fascinating history. On the way back to Varna, stop to buy farm-grown bio fruits and vegetables from local people.
