Begin your day near the Drum Tower with an introduction to traditional Beijing breakfast culture, where you’ll learn about Yaoji Fried Liver and classic steamed buns while exploring the surrounding neighborhood (food purchases at your own expense). Ascend the Drum Tower and Bell Tower for panoramic views over the city’s historic streets. At 10:00 AM, watch a traditional drum performance and experience the solemn atmosphere of “morning bells and evening drums.”
Stroll along Yandai Xiejie (Tobacco Pipe Lean Street), exploring sites such as a Qing-dynasty post office, a late Qing icehouse, and a traditional escort agency. Along the way, your guide will introduce local snack traditions and their cultural background (optional purchases).
Continue to Yinding Bridge, one of the “Eight Minor Scenic Spots of Old Beijing,” and hear stories of time-honored brands and Beijing-style roast meat culture. Visit Wanning Bridge, the only surviving Yuan-dynasty structure on the Central Axis, and learn about the capital’s Grand Canal heritage.
Stop at Fire God Temple to explore its Taoist deities and folk beliefs. Your guide will also introduce traditional Beijing snacks such as Lüdagun, Aiwowo, Wandouhuang, and Douzhir, explaining their origins and significance .
Walk south along Di’anmen Street to Huguosi Snack Shop to discover why it remains popular with locals , then continue to Jingshan Park. Climb to Wanchun Pavilion for sweeping views over the Forbidden City to the south and visit Shouhuang Hall, one of Beijing’s historic imperial temple complexes, before concluding your tour.
