Begin your adventure with a convenient hotel pickup and head into Zhangjiajie’s famous sandstone world. Ride the Bailong Elevator, the world’s highest and heaviest outdoor glass elevator, up the cliff in just under 2 minutes.
In Yuanjiajie, follow the narrow cliff paths and see the Southern Sky Pillar, widely known as the real-life inspiration for the “Hallelujah Mountain” scenery in Avatar.
Continue to Tianzi Mountain, known for its dramatic rock formations and endless stone pillars rising like an ancient army.
Shift to a slower, cooler pace on Golden Whip Stream, a 5.7 km flat, shaded trail along clear water. Enjoy easy walking between towering, fern-covered cliffs.
Leave the park and head to downtown Zhangjiajie to see 72 Wonder Tower, a huge Tujia-style wooden complex. It’s especially striking at night when the building glows gold.
