Hike through Tijuca Forest National Park to Christ the Redeemer on a guided tour. Spot wildlife, visit the Emperor’s Bathtub, and return to Cosme Velho on the Christ the Redeemer Train.
Begin your adventure in the charming neighborhood of Cosme Velho. Walk up a cobblestone road toward the forest, entering Tijuca Forest National Park at the historic Carioca River reservoir, built during imperial times when the river supplied most of Rio’s water.
Climb up a stone staircase, keeping an eye out for wildlife. With luck you may spot monkeys, sloths, quatis, armadilos, toucans, and a variety of birds and butterflies. Pause at a scenic lookout before arriving at the Emperor’s Bathtub, a pool once used by Dom Pedro II to cool off during forest visits.
Next, stop at the Paineiras Visitors Centre, a former hotel with information about the park. Enjoy coffee and snacks before continuing the final 1 km walk to the statue. At the top, 710 metres above sea level, you'll be rewarded with an incredible panorama of the surrounding forest and Rio de Janeiro.
Return to Cosme Velho on the Christ the Redeemer Train, ending the journey with unforgettable memories.

The trail involves a moderate to difficult hike through the forest (depending on your level of fitness and the weather on the day). The walk is only 5km, but involves 550 metres of climbing, with a number of stone stairways.
Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but we will do our best!
